The Hautes-Alpes

Summer in the Hautes-Alpes
The Hautes-Alpes area is situated in Southern France, halfway between Geneva and Nice, near the Italian border.  It is isolated geographically, with 13,000ft mountains, lakes and forests, and valleys where medieval towns intermingle with international ski resorts.  There are no motoways, no polluting industrial sprawls; instead, visitors can observe eagles, mountain goats and groundhogs in their natural habitats, admire ancient mosaics in village chapels, taste alpine culinary delights and, for sports enthusiasts, enjoy the thrills of skiing, white-water rafting and mountain biking.

Alliance Anglaise 05

What is the time in Milwaukee?

Alliance Anglaise 05's goal is to help residents of the Hautes-Alpes discover the outside world.  Although local schools teach English grammar and vocabulary and adult colleges teach technical English, especially important in a region dependent upon tourism, Alliance Anglaise 05 takes English learning even further, offering intensive English conversation workshops.  It also connects its students with Americans of the same age through the internet, Skype and exchange visits, enabling participants to practice their spoken English in a real life situation.  And finally, Alliance Anglaise 05 helps ex-students organise study assignments in English-spreaking countries.

Wisconsin French Connection

Downtown Milwaukee
Alliance Anglaise 05 has partnered up with Language Exchange for World Peace, a non-profit organization in the US, to create Wisconsin French Connection.  The partnership allows Wisconsin inhabitants to chat on internet with individuals in France of the same age, who are learning English.  Students from Wisconsin who are learning French can improve their ability to communicate while making a life long friend.  Non-French speakers can chat in English while also creating a life long friendship.  If American correspondents want to visit the Hautes-Alpes, Wisconsin French Connection can advise on how to make the experience a success.
